PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Works involved excavation of pile cap supports beneath viaducts on the Midland Links Motorway Network.

Principal inspections were carried out to identify any cracks within the cap, depths of the caps varied from 1mtr – 4mtr’s.

Remedial works involved complete exposure of the cap followed by shot blasting to identify the extent of any cracks.

Injection nozzles were installed to cracks and pressure injected to refusal. The Pile Cap was then waterproofed and backfilled with selective material.

All works were carried out in a programmed manner to maintain access beneath the viaduct throughout the works.

Excavated material was carefully stored / sorted to maximise re-use.
