The scheme involved 50 No Box Beam Girders supporting the M6 Motorway at Spaghetti Junction Birmingham. Each beam is approximately 12-15 metres from ground level and spans canals and the River Tame.
The access was provided by bespoke scaffolding bridging the canal and the river to provide adequate support for lifting equipment. Each access door weighed 350kg and was fixed to the Beams by seam welding. Apertures in the Beams were cut using Oxygen & Propane cutting torches and each doorlifted by block & tackle cranage. Interface with the Environment Agency and British Waterways was maintained throughout the project which was completed on time and within budget.
